South African PSL to appeal decision on Tendai Ndoro saga

The South African Premier Soccer league has announced that they will appeal the decision by the South Gauteng High Court Judge Denise Fisher to reinstate Ajax Cape Town into the league.
According to the chairman of the league, Dr. Irvin Khoza, they will go ahead with an appeal of a High Court ruling to bring back the Urban Warriors to the top tier.
The PSL announced the decision after their meeting with the Board of Governors (BoG) on Thursday and also announced that the league will start on August 04.
Judge Denise Fisher ruled in favour of the Mother City side on July 2, setting aside Advocate William Mokhari’s arbitration award that Ajax be deducted nine points from last season’s final PSL log for matches in which they fielded Tendai Ndoro.
Mpkhari’s ruling saw Ajax relegated to the National First division, but Fisher said the club must move be back to their 15th spot on the log.
The Orlando Pirates boss said if the leave to appeal was not granted, the matter would be referred to FIFA’s Players Status Committee for ruling.
“We reported to the BoG on the Ajax-Ndoro matter‚” Khoza said in a statement.
“The Executive Committee have decided to appeal the matter and had a responsibility to give a progress report on the status of the matter [to the BoG].
“We also arrived at a decision that‚ whatever happens‚ the new [PSL] season will start as planned on August 4. All competitions will start as scheduled.”
Meanwhile, the matter related to a FIFA ruling that a player may not turn out for more than two clubs in a season‚ was originally decided in favour of Ajax by the PSL’s Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC) on January 31‚ which ruled that the Zimbabwean striker was eligible to play for the Urban Warriors.
However, the league appealed against that decision at a SAFA arbitration which‚ on March 28‚ referred the matter to FIFA and the Switzerland-based entity referred the matter back to SAFA to be dealt with internally in South Africa.
After leaving Pirates in August last year, Ndoro then signed for Al Faisaly in Saudi Arabia before coming back to join Ajax in December.
