Ola Kamara and Romain Alessandrini were the goalscorers in a strong first half for the LA Galaxy who opened the season with a win over the Portland Timbers.

LA Galaxy forward Ola Kamara has signed a new three-year contract that will put his annual salary at around $1 million, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the deal.

Kamara was acquired by the Galaxy during the offseason for the Columbus Crew in exchange for forward Gyasi Zardes and $400,000 in Targeted Allocation Money. He was expected to be the starting forward for the Galaxy, but with the recent arrival of superstar striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, it’s unclear the extent to which his playing time will be affected. But with the signing of a new contract it’s clear that Kamara remains firmly in the Galaxy’s plans.

Kamara has been a consistent scorer in MLS since arriving prior to the 2016 season. With the Crew, Kamara recorded 35 goals in 64 league and playoff appearances. This season with the Galaxy he has scored one goal in three appearances.

Prior to joining Columbus, Kamara spent time on the books of Stromsgodset and Molde in his native Norway, as well as Austrian Wien and 1860 Munich. Kamara has made 10 appearances with Norway’s national team, scoring four goals.
